Prior
to the event
- Prior to your event, we ask that you go over our song
list and let us know the songs you definitely want to hear
and those you definitely DO
NOT want performed.
- We will get all relevant information from the venue
director and go over all staging and power requirements as well as load
in and
load out procedures.
- We will discuss the schedule of events with either
you or your wedding coordinator to set out a timeline that best fits
the flow of
the evening.
- All details such as food and beverage service for the
band and the flow of events from the cake cutting , toasts,
bouquet/garter toss and
all other announcements will be planned in advance.

During
the event
- Special Edition will act as emcee for all events at
the reception or party including announcing of
the bride and groom, best man toast, bouquet and garter toss, cutting
of
the cake and any other special events you may have planned.
- Under normal
circumstances, Special Edition will perform 3 hours of music over a 4
hour period. We will arrange our
set and break schedules to suit your needs, but we have found that one
of the following 2 arrangements usually works best:
- Three 60 minute sets with two 30 minute breaks
- Four 45 minute sets with three 20 minute breaks
We also can play overtime if desired for a pre-negotiated fee.
- During the breaks we will function as DJ by playing
music to keep the party going. We have hundreds of songs covering
various styles
of music. We can play music from this selection or you may bring your
own
–whatever it takes to keep the party going!

As
the evening begins
- Your guests will arrive and enjoy food and beverages
while
awaiting the bridal party. Special Edition
provides the perfect blend of dinner music with
traditional and contemporary jazz standards brought to you by some of
the most seasoned
jazz players in the Southwest (with a few members having advanced
degrees in
jazz studies from the University of North Texas). This music will be at
a nice
volume so your guests can eat and converse comfortably.
- As you and your bridal party arrive, we will have
everyone
seated and then announce your big entrance. Some couples choose to do
their first and second dance immediately following, while others wait
and do
it a little later. If the songs you have chosen for your first and
second
dance are not in our current song list,
we will learn the songs specifically for your event.
Please give us
at least one month advanced notice to learn new songs for
your event.

As
the evening progresses
- Following
the announcements and first dance
formalities, Special Edition will invite the audience to dance
to favorites from the Motown era and other songs from the 60's and
70's. These music
selections will be chosen to appeal to the "senior" members of your
audience.
- Later,as the evening progresses the selections will
be aimed at the younger
members of your party. This is the traditional approach but it of
course can be altered in any way to fit
your needs. Our goal is to make your reception a fantastic time for
everyone
and an evening you can remember fondly for a lifetime
